Grammy winning country singer Paul Overstreet and his “Glee” star son Chord will headline Thursday’s King’s rally at Cesar Chavez Park, an event that will also include performances by local rapper Alex Johnson, Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon and “nationally recognized performance painter” David Garibaldi. “When my friends from the Kings called and told me about the Long Live The Kings Rally, I couldn’t say no,” Paul Overstreet said in a statement. “I have a great history in Sacramento, and it’s one of my favorite cities to perform. Great fans and, considering the theme of ‘1985-Forever’, I can’t wait to play ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’. It’s going to be an amazing night. Long live the Sacramento Kings!”

Mayor Kevin Johnson had previously announced that Sacramento rock band Cake would play the rally. The band later posted on its Facebook page: “We’re not playing that rally. Mayor announced it without even checking with us!”

Thursday’s rally, at Cesar Chavez, starts at 5 p.m. and is free. Those unable to attend can watch the event in its entirety on Kings.com
